about

Wage Slave is proud to announce its fourth release featuring two driving techno cuts by Attentat, with L.A. based artist Israel Vines weighing in with a heavy remix for the heads. The release contains a hand printed jacket and inner sleeve, with letter-press printed linear notes, and is limited to 300 copies.

The title track Reflective Surface is a ten minute excursion through a sonic field of overdriven drums, rolling gritty bass, and whimsical floating melodies that unlock a rhythmic release certain to move bodies on the dance floor. The track constantly moves forward with the help of a dirty grinding groove created by layers of filtering repetitive drums, airy metallic synths, and hypnotic bass stabs that puncture the psyche like piercing glimpses into an alternate dimension. A pensive yet positive vibe permeates the track as it unravels creating the right mood for reflecting on the possibility of a prefigurative politics to change the world.

On the flip side Section 172 brings a continued sense of urgency as it builds and becomes a rolling wave of delayed drums and mutating synths working together to create an introspective sense of self.

On the inside cut we have a wonderfully banging remix served up by the increasingly impressive mind of Israel Vines. He manages to maintain the organic qualities of the original drums, while adding a layer of squelch, dissonance, and dirtiness that brings the original sounds to peak time status.
